Digital publishing refers to the use of digital printers to publish content in the form of newsletters, personalised mail, magazines, brochures, books and more.
Digital publishing of printed documents has emerged with the recent development of high‑volume production‑quality colour printers, accompanied by creative font software. This has lead to a growth in direct mail and was highlighted in Malcolm Auld’s publication The Direct Mail Renaissance in 2003.
Digital publishing allows marketers to print short‑run volumes of highly personalised content, which is particularly useful in direct mail. When combined with PURL software, these digital mailings have produced some excellent results.

Imagine putting your brochure, catalogue, annual report or large documents into a digital format that can be easily viewed and downloaded from your website, or e‑mailed as well?
And if you could also combine this with a comprehensive reporting suite which helped you identify reader behaviour — what pages they’ve read, what sections they’ve read and what search terms they’ve looked for?
What a powerful marketing tool.
Well you now have access to this technology at MAD through our digital document service.
When MAD recently acquired the ConnectPoint e‑mail marketing business in the UK we also acquired the local rights to this specialist digital document software, along with the expertise through the staff. See the links below to some of the work the team has done.
So MAD can provide you with a digital document solution designed to display publications on websites such as catalogues, magazines, newspapers, annual reports, terms and conditions documents (particularly useful for insurance and financial services documents) shareholder documents and more.
The service allows content to be streamed into the document via links or embedded media players, making the documents extremely interactive and often more useful than a printed version of the same document.
We can provide two styles — a ‘page turning’ and a ‘directory style’.
The ‘page turning’ version replicates the process of reading a newspaper and is ideal for magazines, newspapers etc.
The ‘directory’ version is ideal for larger documents and enables you to display a large number of pages.
Both come with comprehensive navigation tools to enable the reader to make the most of their experience.
